Antioch University Strategic Plan

2024 – 2030

Building on the history of innovation.

Our collective work for Antioch University is to imagine its potential, building on its history of innovation to ensure that it becomes everything it can be in achieving its mission. Antioch is not limited to the current locations, its current programs or the current constellation of its operations. And our work is not simply to ensure the success of its current campuses or operations, but rather to imagine what it can be.

Chancellor Bill Groves – 5 Year Vision Plan

Antioch University’s history is a testament to its adaptability and relevance. Each era has left its mark, shaping our experience. While our core principles and beliefs remain steadfast, our appearance, educational programs, services, and approach to community involvement have evolved to meet the demands of the current era. We are not the same institution from decades or even five years ago, and this dynamic evolution keeps us relevant and adaptable.

The diverse life experiences of our students, faculty, and staff accurately represent the current realities of our society. Our students bring different perspectives, and they expect—even demand—a lot from higher education, which requires us to be agile and responsive in new ways.

As we engage in our strategic planning process, let us maintain an attitude of grace, optimism, and willingness to go beyond ourselves in ways that define Antioch University’s desired future. Strategic Planning is very much about getting to know each other and having healing conversations about who we are and how we should be together as One University.

Implementing strategic planning will enable us to reach our desired destination. We shall consider the concerns, recommendations, analyses, and viewpoints, including those within and outside the Antioch community. Although we strive for inclusivity, our objective should not be to create a plan completely immune to objections but one that embodies our most thoughtful ideas and provides a clear direction for the future. Instead of just surviving in the competitive higher education landscape, let’s strive to be a devoted institution that values everyone, respects individual uniqueness, and prioritizes cooperation and innovation while remaining financially responsible and strong as One University.

Antioch will become an academically integrated national university, with a broad portfolio of mission-consistent programs, scaled-up to more campuses and modalities, delivered in more locations and markets, and supported by affiliated enterprises.

Inclusion & Diversity Statement

In radical recognition of our mission and purpose, we pledge to actively engage in ongoing development as a wholly inclusive community. To this end, we will consistently, deliberately, and systematically strive to be appropriately responsive to the myriad dimensions of human diversity, such that none are marginalized and all experience justice and empowerment. Moving beyond tolerance toward inclusion and the celebration of our differences, we will courageously embrace any resulting challenges as they arise, recognizing that the responsibility for this rests with each and every member of the community. We assert that we will move expeditiously toward our goals through an ongoing commitment to courageous self‐examination and respectful and honest interactions, which will lead us to the creation of formal and informal structures, policies, programs, and services that will give life to these ideals on our campuses and as we touch the world around us.

Created by the University-wide Diversity Statement Task Force, approved 2012
